If anyone is interested, I found an excellent tribute to Gian Maria Volonte on YouTube:

If only I could speak Italian!! I had always thought that Gian Maria Volonte was responsible for the English dubbing of For a Few Dollars More as he could apparently speak English, but to hear his voice in these clips would suggest otherwise. Anyone know for sure?

Hey Lucius111,

Try the Wikipedia entry for Gian Maria Volonte. It gives a brief overview of his career and links to the IMDB and an official Italian site (although the music there kind of freaks me out!!)

Can't thank you enough for sending me these tracks - I have searched for them for so long!! I didn't realise bootleg CDs could be as good as anything already out there. Guess that's my new search!!

I was really disappointed that the GDM issue of the soundtrack didn't feature the version of 'Carriage of the Spirits' that plays over the bridge sequence just as the Union Captain dies, especially as the soprano was so beautiful for that moment.

Don't suppose it was on the bootleg copy?

I had found this page before, but it didn't seem to give a lot of information and I don't speak Italian. I was hoping that someone on the web board had seen a copy or knew more about it. Maybe it's a bit too obscure.

Guess I'll just have to wait  for Christopher Frayling's new book!!
