Once Upon A Time In America / Leone's fascination with the gangster genre
« on: September 18, 2010, 02:32:49 PM »
When did he develop a fascination with this genre? I know his sword and sandals he had no choice since he was assistant on those and westerns was his first personal genre which is covered a lot his love for it but what about the gangster movies, did he also watch a lot of the American gangster movies the same way he did westerns?

If he's not then i like to think of him that way, it sounds cooler or he could be a mix which would make his villains be all different, Ramon just Mexican, Indio mix Indian/Mexican, Sentenza Anglo/Mexican, Frank Anglo.

oh i meant the one with Leone in front of the train.

I really like this movie and its director Aleksandr Ptushko is like the Russian counterpart of Sergio Leone, very epic and beautiful looking about old myths.

I actually like sword and sandals movies more than westerns (so opposite of Leone himself) but i haven't seen this but i think i would like it more than Duck you Sucker, havent seen America yet either.

I always thought so just like Tuco since he looks darker and his sideburns/mustache and also Sentenza being his other name.
