Once Upon A Time In The West / Historical inaccuracy« on: June 15, 2007, 08:32:09 PM »
This isn't a really big deal in the wide scope of the movie, but something so obvious like this being in Leone's most meticulously detailed movie is kind of odd.
The song that the McBain daughter is singing on the beginning is from 1910 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Boy ![]() 19
Off-Topic Discussion / Something I have yet to see« on: May 17, 2007, 05:58:44 PM »
A true Italian or French war film. I'm not talking A Very Long Engagement type stuff or a Zapata, but a war war film. I have my sights set on Castellari's Inglorious Bastards and Rosi's Uomino Contro, but I'm not sure of their availability or if they're coming out soon on DVD.

After all this Billy the Kid talk it got me wondering - What if the fellows in the Italian west attempted, on a grand scale, to tell the stories of the great figures in western history, like Wyatt Earp, Jesse James, etc. who would you have chosen? What would've been great locations for the famous spots?
Imagine the great cast that could've been put together for the Earps/Holiday & Clantons, even if they might not look a lot like them. Stefanelli-A Clanton, Nero-Wyatt Earp, Garko-Doc Holiday, Berger-Any other Earp, holy crap! Maybe even throw in Kinski for added lunacy. Imagine those faces in the famous gunfight with the direction of someone like Sollima. 25

The bigger mafiosa are the Italians, the street punks are Jews, so is it possible Bugsy was Irish? Him and his gang gave me the impression that they were Irish.

Any of you schmucks see this? It was filmed in 2:75 aspect ratio, three hours, was the first film where Brando started being Marlon Brando off camera. Haven't seen it, but dammit I want to.
