The Good, The Bad and The Ugly / AYAYAAA-WAAWAWAA-AYAYAAA-WAAWAWAWAA
« on: April 05, 2003, 11:28:14 AM »
I was wondering how Morricone did the main theme of GBU.  I suppose it's done by voice...?  Are they muted, transformed voices or it some screaming talent that did it?

That's what I love about Morricone.  You know it's Morricone but it never sounds the same as before (on contrary to most contemporary composers).

Off-Topic Discussion / The Who
« on: April 05, 2003, 07:20:53 AM »
Everyone,

I think it would be interesting to get to know each other since we are wasting a lot of time here on this board. ;)  Who are you guys, what do you do for a living and what is the connection between you or your profession and Leone?  If you want to share it, please do.  If not, I respect your will to be anonymous...

Other Films / The new western hero
« on: March 29, 2003, 09:38:14 AM »
I think one of the reasons for the extincting western is that there is no refreshing appearance that would fit in a modern western...  Think about it, you had John Wayne, than Clint Eastwood, who had an appearance never seen before in a western.  He changed the image of what a quintessential western actor should be.  Can you think of anyone nowadays who would make a great western icon?  I dunno, maybe this all sounds ridiculous, but think about it...  Which actor would you like to see in a western?

Maybe Al Pacino would be an unexpected but good try...

Other Films / Favourite non-Leone Spaghetti Westerns?
« on: March 21, 2003, 10:22:43 AM »
I personally liked 'Guns for San Sebastian' and 'The Hills Run Red' very much.  For the rest I haven't seen that many spaghetti westerns...  What about you?

General Discussion / Publicity spots
« on: March 14, 2003, 07:21:51 AM »
I know Leone has done some publicity spots for renault.  Does anyone know where to find these?  I saw them in a documentary about Leone once and they had some really cewl Morricone music...

Once Upon A Time In The West / What four hour version? Deleted scenes?
« on: March 14, 2003, 07:17:21 AM »
Someone mentioned in another discussion a four hour version of OUTIW.  So I ask myself: 'Is there a four hour version?'  I would be very eager to know more about this...

Also, are there known deleted scenes of the film?  Maybe the DVD will bring relief on this one...

Web Site Announcements / technical question
« on: March 11, 2003, 07:44:35 AM »
Can anyone tell me how to put a picture on the web?  I have this drawing I want to use for my profile but I wouldn't know how to put it there... ???

Other Films / Lo chiamavano Trinità... aka They Call Me Trinity (1970)
« on: February 24, 2003, 10:06:42 AM »
I have a question that may sound dumb, but is 'They Call Me Trinity' the sequel to 'My Name is Nobody'?  Are there (other) sequels to 'My Name is Nobody'?

Other Films / The Quick and the Dead (1995)
« on: February 23, 2003, 08:30:51 AM »
Did anyone see this film?  I thought it was a very fun one, I mean the Leone influence was dripping of it...  The film is some kind of a guilty pleasure.

General Discussion / Lucky Luke Comic Books
« on: February 23, 2003, 08:21:12 AM »
I was wondering if the comic book series Lucky Luke is popular to you...
A teacher of mine told me once that Lucky Luke was a major influence to the spaghetti westerns, but I would doubt that...   ???

Off-Topic Discussion / Tarantino
« on: February 15, 2003, 07:33:15 AM »
I have noticed you guys don't speak much of Quentin Tarantino...  Do you like his films?  You probably know that he's very inspired by Leone's work, think about the three-way-gundown in Reservoir Dogs (~GBU), the musical pocket watch (~FDM) and the samurai sword (~Yojimbo?) in Pulp Fiction...  (forget Jackie Brown, that wasn't a very good one) I think such films Leone would be doing if he were alive now...

Other Films / Clint the Cowboy
« on: February 10, 2003, 01:35:32 PM »
Just out of curiousity...  Which Eastwood western vehicle do you like best?  I mean apart from the Leone ones.  Personally I really liked High Plains Drifter the most (for obvious reasons).  It's the most spaghettilike western he's made in America, it has a cool atmosphere and the music is great! 8)

Other Films / How many spaghettis?
« on: February 01, 2003, 04:25:01 AM »
I was wondering if anybody has an idea how much spaghettiwesterns there are made in general?

Once Upon A Time In The West / the good, the bad and the ugly in OUTIW
« on: January 30, 2003, 01:43:06 PM »
I don't know if this has been discussed before, but I heard that Leone's original idea for the opening sequence was that he would let the main stars of GBU play the three men waiting for the train.  Imagine...
With which he wanted to tell to make place for a new west, and the the old Wild West is done, these are the last days of the gunfighter...

Does anybody know more about it?  Is it true?  Why didn't they do it that way?  (maybe though it's better this way)
