Soldier (1964) This episode from The Outer Limits was the basis for the Terminator stuff. But kudos to the movie people because the elements to be found in the tv show are really superficial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGY1osFbBAQ&t=36s),  though Ellison threatened to sue and got money from the franchise. The tv show is overlong and boring.

Desperate Measures(1998) Not a very good action movie, both for absurdity of the whole story (a loving father causes an enormous amount of mayhem to allow a convict to donate his spinal midolla to his ailing son) and the way the action scene develop, not particularly original and thrilling. 5/10

Total Recall (2012) I had criticized the sets of the earlier version, looking what they were. Here the sets are much better and the 3 chase scenes are very good. But Farrell is miscast as an action hero and anyway Schwarzenegger is irreplaceable. 7/10

Loving You (1957) Arguably Presley's best movie, with Jailhouse Rock. It has some great songs (Mean Woman Blues, Teddy Bear, Hot Dog, Party), a good story almost to the end and a good cast. Dolores Hart is pretty and Lizabeth Scott is much more attractive here than in the noirs of ten years before. Corey, I never understood why he was in movies. Presley's acting is uneven, but the inconsistent character doesn't help him. 7-8/10

Hair (1979) With Tommy my favorite rock musical. The movie script does a good job of improving the original text of the musical, especially with Berger's character being given 2 confrontations with authoritarian figures which could have made it into King of Comedy. The problem I have with it is the music arrangements. This could be named the "slap bass version": which is the main feature of the songs. What I don't like is the strained vocals glued to the songs, evident especially in Acquarius and Easy to be Hard: why shouting like mad? Yeah, easy to be hard singing. 8/10

Outland (1981) It is funny to see how state of the art computer technology was applied to a vision of a distant future. Still the movie is good, especially in the last scenes, though one wonders how moronic the second hired killer can be. 7\10

On a bigger screen the rating goes up: 8/10

Sherlock (2010-17) I watched the first 3 seasons of this series (there's a fourth one) and I think is quite uneven. There are 3 episodes which are very good(1 and 3 of s1 and  1 of s2) but the other ones are too absurdly complicated and have not a intriguing development, seem to proceed randomly, the solutions being quite thrown there (see the Baskerville episode and the Moriarty suicide!). Cumberbatch is clearly inspired by Brett but I don't think his expressions are always centered (terrible is his acting when he must show fear in Baskerville). Freeman is good, but playing Watson is not that hard. I like the girl playing Irene Adler. 7/10

Kingdom of Heaven (2005) I saw the extended cut. The director complained about the short cut of the theatrical version. Actually it was too long: I think this should have been 80'-90', the main reason to watch it being the final siege: like the Alamo. The rest is filler, and when is not filler it is just the repetition of a previous filler. 7/10. P.S. I would have liked to ask the screenwriter, when Lionheart asks Bloom the way to Jerusalem and that one answers:"Go where they speak italian and when they don't speak it anymore you're there" where did he pick that inormation: nobody in 1100 was speaking italian at that time: it just wasn't there.

The Bad Seed (1956) a theatrical piece which could have used a 30' cut. The mom and daughter were both nominees at the Oscar and rightly so. Still I think they could have used more watchable women. 6-7/10

Man in the Middle (1964) Francis Nevins makes much of this judiciary flick. I don't. I think it is too slow-paced and there is little dramatic interest. IOf you're a fan of the genre it is surely worth seeing but just for completists. 6-7/10

Counsellor at Law (1933) Generally considered a masterpiece, this pre-code item is one of the best legal theme flicks ever. It is all about a day in the life of the practitioner of the title, it is all set in his office floor (great sets) and it has a pace like a comedy, though it is quite dramatic. The actors are all excellent. Apart from Barrymore (his best ever performance?) it's Isabell Jewell who steals the show as the operator. 8-9/10

I Saw the Devil (2010) I didn't, I only watched half of it and I was bored to death. How can this be taken seriously it's beyond me.

The Delicate Delinquent (1957) Preaching Lewis doesn't make you laugh much. Actually only  a couple of times. 4-5/10

Scary Movie (2000) I forced myself  to watch it to the end and I wondered what they had in mind: make a spoof of a horror movie or a horror movie with spoof moments? I don't know, it seems they were right as there were follows up. The jokes were gross, especially the verbal ones and not funny at all. The first scene was promising, though.  4/10

Royal Wedding (1951) This one has got 2 memorable dance numbers (the gym and the ceiling) and a classic song (Too Late Now) so a 7/10 it's inevitable, though there's no comedic relief. But the numbers are many and the pace fast.
