Leone Retrospective At Harvard Film Archive

During the month of November there will be a Sergio Leone retrospective at Harvard Film Archive. Not sure if there are any members in the Northeast that might have opportunity to go..... Always gratifying to see another organization honoring SL's body of work.
There was a lengthy article in the Boston Phoenix about the retrospective which provides a little discussion on each film. Nothing revelatory but enjoyable to read. (Definitely got a laugh over the foot reference in the discussion about
Colossus Of Rhodes
and how he brought it to Tarantino.)

Also found web site for HFA with their treatment of the retrospective,
Once Upon A Time....Sergio Leone
.

cj, we should take a train with dj and some others up to Hahvihd and check this out! We could Occupy Hahvihd!

Rather sloppy of them. Makes me wonder if the programmers really care about this material.

Ironically enough it actually sounds quite good.
It's certainly less clumsy than "Once Upon a Time... the Revolution" / "Once upon a Time, the Revolution" or "Once Upon a Time in the Revolution"

In English, yes. But in French?

That's the point.
How best to translate "Il était une fois la révolution" (or rather "C'era una volta la rivoluzione") in to idiomatic English.

Was the Italian version of the title ever used? I was under the impression that the French title was created specifically for the French market.

Don't think so.
We discussed the issue here:

Unfortunately, no-one seems to have provided any conclusive evidence either way as to Leone's original intentions for the title.
