PS: Anyone else recently have a weird view of SLWB? There's no formatting options when typing up posts, and it's got kinda a distracting white border. I've noticed this on a couple different computers.

Yes it's a pain but I get by, but I remember some of HTML like for "bold"

Ivan's Childhood and Andrei Rublev are amazing films (great entertainment in other words).

Later on some of Tarkovski's films became indeed a bit boring, a bit too self-conscious, but only his last one was really boring.

Mirror is one I expect to become more fascinating on a re-watch. We'll see ...

His last two. They are the only ones I don't own on disc and won't get--again, I should say (I once had Nostalgia on LD and I guess I had The Sacrifice on DVD once, but those are long gone now).

There are moments in the earlier Tarkovskies I admire/enjoy and will sometimes replay, although I don't really like the films in their entirety. AR is the one with the best degree-of-interest-to-time ratio.

I rewatched Nostalgia in a cinema, and I liked it a little bit less then, but there is still some greatness in it, while I had trouble watching Sacrifice a 2nd time, and was glad when it was over.

Hmm, and I never really got into Stalker, which so many others praise.

I'm going to watch Nostalghia and The Sacrifice next with pretty low expectations. I'd like to see everything of what this Tarkovsky fellow is all about. I'd rather get those two out of the way and save [supposedly] the best for last: Rublev, Stalker, Solaris.

If you don't like Mirror, and Ivan's Childhood not that much, you should maybe stop watching Tarkovski films. Nostalghia or Stalker are very much like Mirror, but way longer ...

I liked Ivan's Childhood enough to want to watch more. Even if his films are boring they're unique and pretty to look at for a while.

I forced myself to watch it but didn't make it beyond 1\2 hour. I understand this is his masterpiece. Actually it must be: Nostalgia I couldn't make it beyond 5 minutes.

After seeing SOLARIS In first run. I had to seek out this filmmakers work.
Alas, this man had only one master piece in.him.
In fact, he had only one.good film in.him!
I think the atrocious STALKER was the last film I saw .
