interesting, nowadays the biggest problem is finding stars who have that weary hardscrabble look and feel like they belong in a Western.

I'd think the toughest part would be finding actors who knew how to ride or horse or handle a gun so it looks real.  In the old days of the studio system, many young actors learned this stuff, learned to dance, etc.

Eli Wallach had known how to ride a horse before Magnificent Seven, but was not familiar with guns, he talked about that on the DVD extra feature.  In the scene near the beginning where he shoots the guy coming at him with a machete, Eli has to look down at his holster to get the gun holstered, something an experienced thug would have mastered long ago.

No, the problem is finding people who have credible 19th Century neck sizes and who don't look like they spend every other day in the gym.

Ha ha - by no means a 19th century setting, but I really struggled with Chris Hemsworth in "Blackhat" for that reason. Speaking of which, is Michael Mann's re-cut version ever going to see the light of day on Blu-ray?
