http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Dollars-Trilogy-Complete-Original/dp/B00TJ0GCD6/ref=pd_sim_15_5?ie=UTF8&dpID=616hZgZEA5L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=05DEM9730V87839FENB4

I've only just stumbled across this and I'm amazed cause usually in a collection you only get the basic tracks from a soundtrack but AFOD has all the tracks not on the regular release and there's vocal versions from FAFDM (which admittadly might be cringeworthy....)
Does anybody own it?

I'm pretty tempted to buy it

Reading some english and italian review I have the impression that these are not the original recording but a new version of the scores. Which might explain the low price.

when I first saw this, I thought, "It says 'complete original scores,' at a price that low - worth taking the chance on them.' So I placed the order. Indeed the price was low - around $20 including shipping to USA. But then I looked at the description on bottom of the page: A World Premiere! The No.1 Best-Seller. Available for the first time all the music from the three films that form "The Dollars Trilogy", as performed by Solisti e Orchestre del Cineema Italiano. With an amazing 18 bonus tracks Morricone fans can track for the first time the development of the original scores. With a 48 page booklet and listener's guide.

so I immediately canceled the order.

If the scores are the original ones that means that Morricone gave his placet to the operation: he owns his own scores and has always prevented publication. It would be interesting to listen to this stuff, I think. Probably I will.

Thanks for the info guys, looks like I won't be buying this then. I do want to get my hands on the expanded AFFOD cd.
Be nice if we could get our hands on an expanded FAFDM as I'm sure there are some missing cues on the current release.
I like my complete scores, boys and girls

The full FOD is available out there if you look hard enough, under the Italian title. I purchased the cd some years ago on eBay or Amazon. FAFDM is harder to find

I have a copy of this set and it's excellent. I recommend it to anyone with ears.

Yes, it is a new recording of the scores. By now, everyone has the originals anyway--it's time to beef things up. Who has just one recording of, say, The Four Seasons? Or for that matter, any film score one truly loves? I have 3 different performances of Vertigo, and my favorite version is not the OST. I wish I had 30 different versions of Morricone's Dollars scores.

If you had an original recording of Beethoven conducting Ode to Joy, you would accept no substitutes!

Anyway, I am not against new recordings per se, if they are really great. I like City of aprague Philharmonic's versions of FOD and FAFDM, and Andre Reiu's OUATITW.

If i could listen to a few sample tracks of this boxset and liked it, I might purchase it.

FAFDM is harder to find

I'm only aware of the one version. The Camden vinyl that came out all those years ago, that is also available on cd. Are you saying there is a fuller version out there?

I've got RCA ND 70391 CD (made in Germany) which has 12 tracks from FDM.

I've got GDM 2038 CD too, 22 tracks.

For anyone interested in Solisti e Orchestre del Cinema Italiano's (SeOdCI) Morricone/Leone soundtracks:

I just noticed that SeOdCI's complete scores of FOD, FAFDM, GBU, OUATITW, and OUATIA are available on iTunes. On iTunes, you can also preview each track for like 90 seconds for free. The complete OUATIA costs $19.99 and each of the other four complete albums are $9.99, or you can pay 99 cents per song.

They also have an album on iTunes called Best of a Fistful of Westerns, which also costs $9.99 or 99 cents per song. This album contains a total of 20 songs, 4 from each of Leone's five Westerns, including DYS. (That's right - there is no full DYS soundtrack available on iTunes from SeOdCI, but they do have 4 songs from DYS on this "Best of ..." cd)

---

I am not sure how the prices on iTunes compare to purchasing a boxset cd or whatever; just letting you know it's out there on iTunes for anyone who is interested.

I only have ripped off CDs of the complete original soundtracks for FOD, FFDM, GBU and OUATITW that a former board member nicely sent me back in 2004. I'd love to get an official digital copy for these since I mainly use iTunes and Spotify now. I almost only plays CDs in my car.

Yeah, I have the real soundtracks and don't care about the Solisto Ofchestra's. Was just pointing it out for whoever did want that.

I have full real soundtracks of all Morricone/Leone scores on my iPod. Purchased some on iTunes, some I got ob cd and then put that on my iPod. Yes, I still use an iPod. A nano.  :)
