I think the Angel Eyes/"Fort" scene is very important, especially for its anti-war  elements.  And same for scene leaving the mission, showing dead soldiers along the trail, and detailing how long a journey it would be.

Scene where Tuco learns the mission is not too far is short, no need to excise.

Short, yes, but also completely superfluous. In that case I like the direct cutting to the mission much more. This scene and the one with Clint and LvC at the night camp are the only ones from the original version which I would cut out to make the film better. All the other different scenes are great, and I don't want to watch GBU again without them.

The desert works so much better in the shorter version.

No, it is slightly better. Love that foot bathing scene.

I don't like that scene. I'm not saying it couldn't work, but it looks like a rough first draft.

Important cameo in that as well.

You'd better be Bill Carson

Think he means Josef Egger.

I think it's actually Joseph Bradley in the night scene, (the station master from the opening of OATITW), not Egger, although they look very similar.

Frayling confirms this in his dvd comments.  :)

Either way you want his cameo in that scene and that scene in the movie. Unless you're a dickfor.
