Those at IMDB who say this is Presley's worst movie have probably seen only a handful of them. This was based on a classic novel (I haven't read it, unfortunately) and it's a comedy played in modern times. Presley plays a half breed  (half Mexican, half Indian)rodeo champ always womanizing and short of money. The cast is a solid one (sure, Meredith and Gomez playing Indians...) light years above the usual, late 60's, Presley fare. The problem was the direction and the script which, had been better handled, could have made this a solid comedy classic. Still, I cannot count Hollywood comedies considered good, but actually worse than this one. And though the three songs sung by Presley are forgettable (you don't need Greensleeves with lyrics) the fourth, All I Needed Was the Rain, ever since I heard it eons ago, made me regret it had been composed only by half. Anyway 6-7/10

So was Presley's rendition of Greensleeves better than Johnny Crawford's in the very last rifleman episode????

Crawford was better.

I prefer the timeless old-fashioned version

I prefer this one because it has no lyrics and lasts only what it should:

I don't know about you, but the first time I heard it was here:

But I didn't remember it was sung. Must watch again that movie. I saw it in cinerama at the time.

Yes - Greensleeves/Home on the Meadow (with its own lyrics) was the key that held the generations of the family together in "How the West was Won".  I also saw this film in Cinerama as a kid when it came out in 1962.

Of course Eli Wallach and uncredited Lee Van Cleef are in it.

And the Christmas Song  "What Child is This" also uses the Greensleeves melody.

Yea I saw it in Cinerama too. Did you see it in Arizona? Wouldn't think there would be a Cinerama theater there.

No, saw it in downtown Pittsburgh in 1962.  Family didn't move to Arizona until 1967.
