I hadn't watched this before. And I never read the Ellroy's novel. The serial killer plot is quite flimsy, but one doesn't care. It is Woods presence and performance which keeps you glued to the screen. I would have gladly done without his marital problems and without a too long scene with Leslie Ann Warren, But for the rest the pace is perfect and the finale one of the best ever as it is short (less than 10') and original. 8/10

It's interesting to hear your thoughts on "L.A. Confidential" even though you haven't read the source material. It seems like you were particularly impressed by Russell Crowe's performance and the film's pacing, especially the finale. While you found the serial killer plot weak and some scenes unnecessary, the overall experience seems to have been positive for you, earning an 8/10 rating.

It's been some time since I've seen it, but I was disappointed, and thought it was very by-the-numbers and forgettable, especially for an Ellroy adaptation.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre..

Somebody put this on YT a couple of years ago so I watched it - for the first time - and was pleasantly amused. Didn't have the time to post a comment here.

I don't remember it was ever shown on TV over here (or near), which is rather baffling, as it fits every criteria for what you'd expect from an 80's Woods' cop flick. I haven't read the original either but the script seems tailor made for Woods: the character, the lines, the setting, even the accompanying cast of characters (especially Durning - they have a few great scenes there).

I forgot the ending: the only thing I remember is that some sort of computer/electrician guy pops out of nowhere for the final showdown. The tributary plot with the creepy pedo-cops - when Woods's charecter is sniffing 'em out - was rather good.

7.5/10
