Pink Floyd's The Wall

I don't see it mentioned in movie circles too much and I would think most Leone fans have seen it or have enjoyed it, but I really haven't seen it mentioned around here even though there's hundreds of "movies Leone fans would like".

I always thought of it on the level of Leone's "troubled, lonely character" stories like OUATITW and OUATIA. I think it's very similar to Leone's films in more ways than one even though it's very different in countless other ways. Very little dialogue, surreal visuals, unsanitized content, unanswered questions, important music, disturbed main character, etc.

What do you think? It's probably my favorite film tied with OUATIA.

To be honest, I dont think The Wall's got anything to do with Leone. The only thing is the feeling the music evokes. Filming is totally different - The Wall is more like one giant music-video - experiments with some Roger Waters post war-paranoia and pocket psychology added.

The Wall is not in any respect a masterpiece, like at least 3 of Leone's movies are. Not that I dont like the movie, I'm a Floyd fan too, but the movie seemed to be better 15 years ago, when I was in my late teens.

when i was about 15 i used to love the album, and saw the movie and thought it was ok. but i really think the wall is one of those things thats so ingrained in its era, its so for teenagers its untrue. now i dont really like the wall that much. i much prefer early pink floyd, when they had syd barrett. they were really cooking then, its also not quite so pretentious, its whimsical english humour, unlike their serious 70s stuff which though is very good, its all a bit contrived for me. i know everyone loves dark side of the moon etc., and it is good, but i much prefer barrett's pink floyd.

Well I didn't take the story seriously until I got the movie. I always thought it was a "guy gets burnt out on drugs and goes crazy" story until I realised it was more philosophical and deep and really has nothing at all to do with a generic rock story than that. It's amazing how many parts in that movie were true to Syd and Rog's life without any obvious transitions from each other's stories.
