I allways get a kick out of Kinsky's bit part in FADM, both in the saloon and later in Agua Caliente. How big a star in Europe was he at that time? I know he made some pictures with Werner Herzog, I thought he was great in "Aguirre: The Wrath of God" any others worth seeing?

And while I'm on this subject who else in Leone's films was a star in his own right in Europe, I know Gian Maria Vollonte was and have seen "Christ Stopped at Eboli" but what other movies for him. Claudia of course, but who else.

In 1964, Klaus Kinski was not a big star in Europe.

In fact I think he never was a "big star". Today, everybody says that he was a great actor, maybe the best german actor of all times (I personally apreciate Jurgen Prochnow), but never a "big star".

He became very famous in restricted, intelectual groups in the 70's and 80's thanks to his work with Werner Herzog.

Gabriele Ferzetti was a great actor in Italy, but i won't call him "star".

So then we have only Claudia, Volonte (you did not comment on him), and Ferzetti. What films would be worth seeing of Ferzetti?

Gabriele Ferzetti is also doing a performance in a theatre in Rome...
My friend that lives in Rome has saw the show, and after the show he has been in the back-stage with a poster of "Once upon the time in the West", asking for a autograth of Ferzetti...
Gabriele look at him and he said: "I can't belive there is someone that remember Mr Ciuff Ciuff (Morton)..."

And what about Aldo Giuffre? His participation on GBU seemed just great to me.

He seems to be a great, passsional actor.

Jill or Nighteagle, could you tell us how known is Aldo Giuffre in Italy?

Forgive me for using the word "star", I use it in the general sense meaning a principal actor in a leading or supporting role. Not the "Superstar" meaning it has become.

But getting back to my question if one wanted to make a list of well worthwhile films to catch other vehicles for former Leone actors what would they be. I'm directing this to our European members who may be more familiar with this.

Concerning Klaus Kinski: he did a couple of really great spaghetti westerns except FAFDM, for example; "The Great Silence"; And God said to Cain" and "A bullet for the  general". For Herzog he also did "Fitzcarraldo"; "Nosferatu the vampyre"; "Woyzeck"; "Cobra Verde".  All worth seeing.
Volonte also did a few great spaghetti westerns, such as; "A bullet for the general" and "Face to face", where he actually stars. Other films with Volonte worth mentioning  is "Investigation of a citizen above suspicion"; "Sacco and Vanzetti" and "The Red Circle". All of these definitely worth seeing.

kinsky was brilliant in dr. zhivago.
gian maria vollonte concidered himselfe a "serious" actor.
as for aldo giuffre, u.s.grant was known to tipple a few to quell the headaches lee was giving him.

remember the auction in OUATIW: you could see very quickly  Fabio testi an handsome guy who played in france two good movies: "L'important c'est d'aimer" (Zulawski) with Romy Schneider and "Nada" (Chabrol)
I will check if G.Ferzetti played the "referent" in "L'Aveu" (Costa-Gavras) with Yves Montand from the Arthur London's novel.

Well spotted. It really does look like Fabio Testi in OUATITW. According to the imdb, Fabio Testi was an uncredited stuntman in GBU, so it would all add up to why Leone hired him for OUATITW, because as you subsequently see, all the bad guys in the auction scene get killed by Frank in punishing ways. Judging by the hat that Fabio Testi wears in the auction scene, he's the one who pushes the rifle over the town clock, casting a shadow, and when shot falls back off the roof and crashes through a veranda. An amazing stunt!

It is Fabio Testi, and yes, he´s the one that crashes through the veranda. He hurt himself, too...
