Does Calvados rate as third world?

I KNOW that you KNOW that, in Europe (including France), everything but Paris rates as third world.

The lyrics are printed in the GDM version of the expanded cd

actually, the correct title is "Ballad of A Soldier"
as with other tracks, the Italian translation on the soundtrack was literal
not idiomatic.*
In America, a song with a story is called a "ballad"
IN Europe a ballad (or ballade) is an instrumental piece.

I was pleased that in his dvd commentary, Frayling used the correct term "Ballad"
- [he must have read my album review 8)}

bruce marshall

Like the track 'The Strong'. This is a mistaken translation of il Fort, which should have meant fortress or castle - the place where all of the injured Confederate soldiers are dying

*worst example of this in with DYS - "Mesa verde" is literally translated as "Green Table"!!! :o

Not in the Europe I live ...

A ballad is never an instrumental piece of music. A ballad always tells a story.

They are also transcribed in the SL Encyclopedia.

In the Europe I live in, Unkown is right.
It’s almost as if there were several different countries in Europe.

It varies from country to country. Here in Germany a ballad is sort of a song based on a poem, also a story of a special person or event (as in THE BALLAD OF CABLE HOGUE :) ) .
In France a lot of old dance music is labeled as "ballade", also in classical music (mainly piano, remember Richard Clayderman's "Ballade pour Adeline" ? Tortured us to no end 40 years ago. Of course the first thing I learned on the piano back then :) ).

What does Wiki France think?

https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballade

It says it was a poem, but now:

Quote
En dehors du domaine littéraire, le mot ballade s'est appliqué à un type assez vague de chanson populaire, lente et mélodieuse : c'est le sens commun à la fin du xxe siècle.

Did you just try to pull a Titoli on me?
