wow... butch cassidy and the sundance kid and dances with wolves are showing up so much opposite of top 5 list's filled with leone it's almost making me feel guilty for liking leone so much. honestly two of the worst movies i've ever seen, and a disgrace to westerns everywhere.

I unashamedly love BC+SK - I think it's a classic. True it has a bit of a roundabout plot, the transitional montage things are a bit weird and I guess not everyone will like the humour in it, so I can see why some people might not like it. There's also more emotion than action, so some people might dislike it for that reason.

Obviously I'm not just some lone nutjob with bad film taste, since others on FoL like it to (it's also #124 on IMDb). I guess it's just cos Leone spans so many different styles and ideas that his fans have vastly different tastes as well.

thats true... i don't feel so guilty anymore for loving leone... but i do feel bad for being a human being, but i guess there are worse things with widespread respect... i personally can't get over that song while their on the bicycle... it is a western not a hippie music video... and the humor is generic, and they make butch and sundance out to be hippie fag cowboys? i just don't see it... i love newman, redford is ok, a western with the two of them should have been great... and as much as i love the sting and slap shot, this film alone is enough to make me think george roy hill is an idiot.

I know what you mean about Butch Cassidy, Grandpa, but there is something that I love about that movie.

Dammit, thinking of my list, maybe I should have included Rides with the Devil in my american list.

it is a western not a hippie music video...

I guess it IS very much of its time, although I wouldn't call it a hippy movie.

and they make butch and sundance out to be hippie fag cowboys?

Hahaha. If it implied Butch and Sundance were gay I would actually like it even more. I suppose there are menage-a-trois implications with Etta Plaice, kind of reminds me of the flashbacks in DYS.

I dunno, you're entitled to your opinion.  I thought the politics of "Dances With Wolves" were crap, but what can I say, I like Kevin Costner and I thought the film was great.  I don't think I can really explain why.

BCATSK. . . I think of that as a fun movie more than a Western.  I don't think it's a classic, but other than the "Raindrops Are Falling On My Head" scene, it was enjoyable.  Great cameos by Strother Martin and Jeff Corey helped too.  ;D

See that's funny, because i started right on time, but ran out of tape and it ends with mcqueen pointing a gun at malden in the water.

Ya i just bought it at Borders on a trip to KS. finnally saw the end.
By the way, what other movies does Malden play in. he looks too familiar.
