William Berger

i've become quite a fan of William Berger. i loved him in keoma and face to face. lets face it as banjo in sabata he's fantastic.
but has anyone seen him in anything else western or not. if so was he any good and is the film worth a view?

  I agree that Berger is great as Banjo.  I love that first time when we learn there's a rifle in the banjo.  Unfortunately, I haven't seen Keoma or Face to Face.

Berger is fantastic...I agree. I recently saw 2 films that he costarred in..."They Call Him Cemetery".......in which he originally spoke Italian.......& "Face To Face" tonight (Wow...what a movie), in which he spoke English.
Very versatile...good actor.

Hey..didn't know that.......& actually...I need to revise my
Berger/Face To Face comment....it looks to me that sometimes he spoke English dialogue...& sometimes spoke Italian.
Also..I wouldn't be at all surprised if he did his own German dubs. ..but, interestingly enough...his character's voice in the Italian and German dubs on "They Call Him Cemetery" sound different...but that could be just the difference in tone due to the manner in which the two languages are spoken.

I was reading a few days ago an interview to Donal O'Brien, who said that he thought WB had it all (technique, presence, beauty) to become a world famous actor and didn't make it because of drug addition on his and his wife's part. Actually he landed a role in a SW originally meant for Berger because he was in jail when shooting started.

I saw that "They Call Him Cemetery" last night and the German audio is quite unlistenable-Berger is excellent playing an hired killer called Duke but his Teutonic dubbing sounds very course and not much unlike Hitler! Thankfully my dvd has a lovely sounding Italian track also .Neat movie btw,with a great Nicholai score.
         I've been trying to get hold of the full widescreen version of Django Strikes Again(deleted on dvd it seems ) which features a Berger cameo in the intro which is absent from my pan and scan UK Colourbox vhs-there are some videos of this movie floating around cheap on Ebay as part of the excellent 4front sw series from the late 1990's in the UK.Does anyone have this video and is it widescreen and uncut?

Berger is also in those two hilariously awful Lou Ferrigno HERCULES movies as the main villain Menos. Gianni Garko is also on hand as well as many other recognizable faces from italian horror pictures. If you've never seen these your jaw will drop and you will laugh till your head explodes. MGM has them both for 10 dollars on a double feature. I saw the first one in the theater in 83 when it didn't seem quite so bad then.

I hadn't seen too many movies with william berger, sabata and unrecognizable in Keoma.
I bought face to face and the first sartana movie, where he's very good in both. Any other movies i'm missing with good WB parts.
Face to face 'could' be my favourite SW without an american lead. Milian was relatively understated, great acting by volante and very strong lead by WB.
Sartana wasn't as gadgety / circus-y as i expected it to be an WB was great although a little on the deranged side.

A great SW that Berger appears in is CALIFORNIA starring Giuliano Gemma. Of course his role is very small.

"Sabata" just rubs me the wrong way - I think I decided I'm not a spaghetti fan after watching that movie. It just seemed like a chaotic mess to me (sorry guys).
