Hey Dave, I appreciate but you know what you're talking about? Don't tell me that you're a paisano in disguise like CJ, uh? You saw the match?

Banjo, I appreciate the congratulations, but really France was tremendous  in the second half and in the overtime. Still I think that Zizou lost his head (pun intended) when he realized that France could never have made it against  that defense. This is the first time that a World Cup is won by the  defense, though it can't be said that we played a defensive game.

P.S. Tomorrow, at 6.00 p.m. we'll know the verdict 1st degree of the trial.

A question: are the British contributors to this topic happier for Italy's victory or for France's defeat?

For me Italy was always my choice after England and that was before my interest in Spaghetti Westerns  :)

I can reciprocate by saying that England was always my choice after Italy. Fact is that I am sentimentally involved with the 1966 Cup (which ended in disaster for Italy, though we had one of our best teams ever) because is the first I saw on TV: I like the red jerseys with the three lions and the long sleeves (those I saw in the pictures, later. In Italy the first world championship televised in colour was 1978). And then the kind of game played in Premiership is my favorite. A pity that only rarely it seems to be aptly transposed in the national team performances. But I think that England's hour will come when least expected: that's why we love football, don't we? If Greece was able to win a big tournament, why should not happen to one of football leading nations?
But I heard from some american friend also that the torunament was a success in USA. Can anyone confirm?
