I believe "America" is his best film. But I cannot deny the vote to my favorite of his..."Duck you Sucker".

I love OUATITW. I feel that Leone reached the Everest of his career with West. It's my favorite movie of all time and got me into westerns and movies in the first place.

Once upon a time in the west
this film has it all and as good as duck you sucker is I always feel depressed after watching it people are right when they say that this movie shows that the violence is not fun anymore or a myth.
Once upon a time in America is a film on a different level its a gangster movie not a western.
I would place it next to Goodfellas as the top two films of that genere and before anyone starts praising the Godfather to much I personally don't like it even though its always held up as the best gangster movie I think Leone could have done better with it

a caveat, here though, I've not see DYS in years and the only time I saw it was Pan & Scan on commercial TV with add breaks, so I really haven't seen it.

I may change my vote.

Also we have three distinct types of films, Western, Zapata, Gangster.

I just love DYS. it is so engaging. it is the only leone film  where you become the most emotionally involved with.
you do become emotionally involved with the characters in West and America, but the emotion is rather distant compared to how hard-hitting "Duck you Sucker" is. And in my honest opinion...Duck you Sucker has the best soundtrack of all his movies.

It is a great soundtrack. Hauntingly beautiful while playful at the same time.

OUATITW for me.  Another hauntingly beautiful score, and I love how Morricone gave each character their own theme.  It seems so simple, but it is really quite brilliant.

Well if you have a look at the results regarding the votes about which leone's films is your favourite
http://www.fistful-of-leone.com/forums/index.php?topic=2879.0
and the total of number of posts and topics for the movies you proposed for this poll you will realise that the winner of your vote is probably going to be Once upon a time in the West.

My favourite is anyway Once upon a time in America that I consider as the greatest film ever made. Nevertheless when I'm watching Apocalypse Now...

true but this poll is more of a synopsis(as to who here likes what), not a competition.

It's probably Once Upon a Time in America, but if you asked me tomorrow, I would say Once Upon a Time in the West.    Duck, You Sucker, which he TOOK OVER during production, doesn't rank with the other two.

More feeling.

I strongly disagree with that.

You're free to.  I don't find it remotely close to the other two.  On the other hand I think Zapata Westerns in general are utter crap, so I might be biased at the one Sergio backed into.  I mean it's better than other Zapata's, but it doesn't stack up with the stuff Sergio helmed from pre production on.
