I've been wondering what footage was cut from this version, and how the film worked with this short duration. This version called Duck You Sucker has not resurfaced since 1972 for public release, and I think it was the initial US release before they took the UK A Fistful of Dynamite for release.

your correct, "Duck you sucker" was the original title.
Alot of things were cut. The church explosion scene was cut, naughty language was cut, 35 seconds of the mass murder in the pits was cut, the grotto scene was cut very badly and the final flashback(along with some trimming on the other flashbacks) was cut by 2 minutes.

But the US version was even more heavily trimmed to 120 minutes, which would mean they had to cut more stuff than the stuff already missing at 138 minutes. I just wonder what sort of a hack job that was, and how they managed to make a releasable film at that duration (It really wasn't, it flopped when released like that).

to my knowledge mgm advertised it as a "kiddie western" hence the cutting of all the nasty violence and language.
