1. Almeria
2. Sad Hill (There's no more graveyard left, but I believe Don Bruce once showed us the site.)
3. Monument Valley (I've been there once but I'm dying to go back!)
4. Medinaceli (where Banco de Mesa Verde was)
5. McBain Ranch

You can see the locations used for Sad Hill, Flag Stone, the bridge sites in GBU and Duck You Sucker here.

In everyone's life there is a "Summer of '42"

Come to think of it...I really want to check out the Pub in Dublin (DYS flashback sequences).
One of the features of my UK DYS DVD includes video of original  film location sites and compares them to the film
sequences. The Irish Pub has not changed much over the years.
I had to buy a multi-region DVD Player to watch the film but it was definitely worth it  (I didn't realize my US DVD player would not play the Region 2 DVD when I puchased the UK film). The film is shown in its entirety with the full length flashback scenes.
Some of the comparative sites include:

Blown Bridge
Irish Pub
Mesa Verde Bank
Canyon  (where John first meets Juan)
Executions Sites (including the rainy night sequence)
Mountain where John and Juan have lunch
...and several more 8)

I'm doing the same for my birthday. I'm getting sick and tired of being hampered by regions. If I want to watch a DVD from Europe I should be able to!

The region code system is a Berlin wall of the movie world. Movies are culture to be shared among people on this planet. Whoever made this horrible system don't care about that.

I've just realised that that Spanish friend of mine has a relative or friend near those sites, where most of SW were filmed... Oh dear. I want to go there!
Those comparison photos look very good. Make me want to see it in person.
I also don't like all those regions. Fortunatelly we watch DVD's on computer, but still we had problems with it. It only makes one not to buy a DVD he would buy if he could watch it without problems!

Hope you get to go. Where does your friend live?

Or is the question indiscreet?   ;D

Do you know a SW place near Madrid? They all seem to be quite far away. I've seen one thread with one, which is said to be near... but I'm not much good in Spanish geography. Let's hope that friend will know...

The railway station at Guadix is where DYS was filmed ( the Mesa Verde scenes ).

That's strange, on some comparison photos it was said to be in Almeria... But thanks for the tip.
