Somebody remember Laurence Harvey ?
When I saw Alamo for the firts time (I was kid), I have been very impressed by this actor playing Colonel Travis.
Cigar, Smart suit, large white hat .. Tall , thin, tough, .
. Five years after I met (unfortunatelly on a theater's screen only) a young beginner named Clint Eastwood and I got a feeling of "deja-vu".
Has anybody shared this feeling ?

Laurence Harvey played with Simone Signoret who received an Oscar for "les chemins de la haute ville" (High something in english) and after that .... No news.

Have Clint or Sergio never spoken about this guy ? 8)

Laurence Harvey was in the film Room at the Top (1959) with Simone Signoret. His most famous role was the brainwashed assassin in The Manchurian Candidate (1962) starring Frank Sinatra directed by the great John Frankenheimer, a classic.

His performance as Col. Travis in The Alamo was good.  The conflict between him and Richard Widmark's Jim Bowie provides for some tense scenes.

And I can't forgot to mention the final battle sequence, one of my all-time battle/action sequences.

Do this mean what I think it do?
  It do.

He was terrific in THE RUNNING MAN and the sadly neglected Paul Newman starrer THE OUTRAGE.
