Play, Harmonica - Play !

Hi everybody,

Just (recently) found out that there are one or two people doing their own "Special Editions" of their favourite films using the best elements available to them. It seems to have started over at the Star Wars ( ::) ) site at http://www.originaltrilogy.com, and has stretched to many other (non Star-Wars) films.

Long story short - there's a guy there thinking of doing "Fan Preservation" edits of FFOD, FFDM and GBU. He may well have already done some of them. These would include extended scenes and original mono soundtracks.

Not sure how you could get them (if at all), but typically these things might end up on BitTorrent sites such as http://www.myspleen.com, or maybe blanks-and-postage would be applicable. For what its worth, I recently got hold of a Hi-Def "Fan Preservation" of "Blade Runner" this way (BitTorrent), sourced from a recent Hi-Def TV broadcast, and it was just superb. Loads of extras with it too.

Anyways, if you fancy keeping an eye on whats going on with these, heres a direct link: http://www.originaltrilogy.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=11&threadid=5771&STARTPAGE=1.

Various elements are involved, eg, Italian DVDs, SE DVDs, and the all important mono soundtracks.

Looks kinda interesting....
