As the new DVDs of the Dollars trilogy and Duck You Sucker will not contain the original mono, are there any discs that do?

In the Leone News thread (next one down)  on Topic Leone SE second to last entry was this below, hope its true.


This news just came in from a guy at the DVD Talk forums who apparently got his set early:

Good news. I got this set yesterday and although GBU is the same discs as the previous Extended cut DVD set, FOD, FFDM and DUS all have the original mono soundtracks unlike the UK discs. The picture quality looks the same as the UK discs.

Let's hope that this is true.  Looks like TGHBATD will never see what it deserves  >:(.  Thanks.  Please God, let this be true!

What the heck is up with OUATITW?  Is the 10 buck disc the same as the old two DVD set, or must  I track the old one down?

Remember, the UK SE are the screenshots on the bottom and the USA SE are the shots on the top of the screen comparisons.  Image-wise, they look pretty identical to me.

I believe in some respects the stereo-surround track is a great enhancement(the explosive sound effects are absolutely wonderful) of the audio but from reading that link they messed up because  " The pitch correction applied to compensate for the PAL speedup makes everything sound brittle" which leads me to to the question does this pitch correction affect the new Region 1 which is of course NTSC?

Morricone's score does sound brittle and harsh on the Region 2 which is why i'll be waiting for the Region 1 price to drop in due course.

It'll definately be great to have both mono and stereo-surround audios and both at the correct speed. :)
