I've just bought my tickets for Morricone's Albert Hall concert on the 10th November. £30 each but it's worth it. I think they're selling out quite quickly, so calling all British fans - hurry up! Cannot wait......

Oh my god that was absolutely fantastic!!! What a concert! When the Ecstasy of Gold kicked in for the second time I thought I was going to cry with delight. Grazie Ennio. Ottimo concerto.

Well the Morricone concert was daddy! I forgot to bring the programme in but - from memory - it was kind of split into three parts starting with 'The Untouchables' into 'OUATIA' into 'Legend of 1900' then 'Cinema Paradiso'. Then a section of some stuff I was unfamiliar with followed by - the best stuff - Leone suite.

'GBU', 'OUATITW', 'Giu La Testa', 'GBU (Ecstasy of Gold)'. The 'GBU' sounded funny at the start due to instruments replacing the crazy screams but this was to be expected, the Ecstasy of Gold with a 60 strong choir screaming was awesome (and thankfully repeated as an encore!)  ;D The soprano didn't quite nail 'OUATITW' but she made 'Giu La Testa' her own.

Following the intermission it was the 'social' cinema suite which included the awesome Battle of Algiers (really must get this watched) and a lot of other stuff that I didn't recognise by name but sounded familiar. The suite pretty much finished with the haunting 'Casualties of War'.  8)

The last section was a lot of specially remixed stuff mainly of the desert scene in GBU and The Mission. Following this and a standing ovation. He popped back about three times to play some more.  :D

...the final time some guy shouted out "Thank you Ennio!"   :D  ;D

And even the orchestra performed the last chorus of 'Happy Birthday To You' after a group of people had instigated it!

Anyway! All in all a great way to spend 3 hours - the seats I had were daddy too, though not if you suffered from vertigo - just wished I could have actually clapped! (Broke my wrist on Sunday!)  :-[ :'(

I'd pretty much echo those sentiments, though I thought the soprano did a fine job of the Jill OUATITW theme. I was praying for a lone guitarist to whistle Fistful and FDM then a Harmonica player to enter at the encore but i think that was expecting a little TOO much. I too was sitting at a dizzying height - right at the very top immediately in front of the stage. Still can't stop whistling ecstasy of gold, which is beginning to annoy my work mates i think  8)

You lucky sons of bitches.  ;) Sounds like it was awesome.  (Would've loved to have seen the orchestra play "Happy Birthday" to Ennio, that probably would've been the highlight of the night for me.  ;D) Perhaps in the future I can go?  I hope so.
