Let me be the first to start a thread on this new board! I'll make it simple. What is your favorite Ennio Morricone Score?

1. The Ecstasy Of Gold- Tuco's graveyard scene is probably my most favorite scene in a film ever. The song truely captures the scenes mood in a way i had never seen before. It opened my eyes (and ears) to the possibilities of art that can be acheived through the collaboration of music and films. Some people say it's a song about greed, but i have to disagree. i feel that these people focus too much on the "gold" part of the title and not enough on the "ecstasy". I mean, the whole film is about tuco's quest for this gold and once he finds it you can truely feel the ecstasy, both visually and musically.

2. deborah's theme- while i watched OUTIA, it seemed that every time this peace came on my eyes would get watery. now im not the kind of person that cries (generally i don't, especially when it comes to films) but i can tell you what can make me cry, beautiful things. and this song reminded me of them. as the film progressed i would cry a little more until finally tears were just running down my face. it made me think of memories, beautiful memories. OUTIA is the only film that has ever made me cry, and this song is why

3. Jill's theme- its just beautiful. there's nothing more i can really say

Long Live Il Maestro!

Favourites:

- Ecstasy of Gold, of course. Brilliant. You must love Tuco in this moment.  ;)

- The Trio - perhaps the best duel scene, with a fantastic Music

- The Desert - perfect. I feel thirsty every time when I hear it.  O0

- GBU title theme: funny and unforgettable.

- Jill' Theme  :'( Beautiful.

- Farewell to Cheyenne - oh my God. So great.

- Man with Harmonica - probably the best... that harmonica really cries... this is pure "death music"

- La resa dei conti (also, the pocket watch music with organ and orchestra) - my personal favourite. Brilliant. And the watch's music changes itself with his owner's temperament...

- Giu la testa main theme: beautiful and sad.

- The Mercenary - L'Arena: a great theme, no wonder that QT "stole" it.  ;D

- Vamos a Matar Companeros - The music what makes you a warrior. I feeled like I'm hearing Manowar: I want go to battle and KILL! >:D

- The Great Silence: that music makes a very sad and hopeless feeling as the film is. Masterpiece.

- Death Rides a Horse (that theme with chorus) - really great. I loved it in Kill Bill too.  ;)

There are so much great scores by him.

Oh, I almost forget:

- The Mission - a very sad and beautiful film with an awesome music.  :'(

All of those Jill mentioned!  ;)

But I also like his Spanish guitar pieces. I wish I could get a compilation of just those from all his Western scores for background music.

Pablo Ramierez, Il Tramento, from GBU, I know there are a few of these in The Mercenary, at least one in The Big Gundown, and others that without soundtracks I don't know the names of.

I feel the exact same way, and this is why it's my second favorite Morricone theme.

How come some of you make this so complicated. lol I said what's your favorite ENNIO SCORE. I know we all LOVE all his scores but the thread didn't say, "What's your favorite Ennio Track, or multiple scores?"  ;D

What's your favorite Ennio Morricone Score?

ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST is the answer for me.  O0

1. Main theme from GBU. Duh.
2. Cockeye's Song.
3. OUATiA theme.
4. A repetitive theme: The Thing.
5. Main theme form OUATiTW.
6. Another repetitive theme from The Battle of Algiers.
7. Triple Duel.
8. Ectasy of Gold.
9. FOD.
10. FAFDM.
I haven't heard to much of his music, to be honest.

The scores I've mentioned by Jill are great, but what about his music for The Untouchables? That film was my first introduction to Ennio Morricone.

That's a fantastic score by Ennio. One of my favorites. I own the soundtrack.

OUATIA is my favorite score. My favorite individual piece by Ennio is one of these three:

1. Ecstasy of Gold
2. Man With a Harmonica
3. Friendship and Love (OUATIA)

4.Rivoluzione contro

Excellent choice.  The alternate versions on the second disc of the extended DYS soundtrack are also favorites of mine.

It's almost impossible to pick just one TB. It like having to choose one of your
children as your favorite.

1) Cinema Paradiso
1) DYS
1) OUATITW
1) OUATIA

 ;)
