I hear it's his worst. But considering it's Leone we're talking about, I think even his worst can be considered decent.

It's decent, but it's not amazing. Then again, it shines over most of the stuff I see nowadays. :(

It's worth owning, especially if you're a Leone fan. Pick it up to complete your Leone collection.  O0

If The Colossus of Rhodes was Leone's best movie, I don't think he would have ever become famous worldwide. I am a Leone admirer, but definitely not because opf this peplum.

Having said that, the movie is watchable, althoug to me it does not have much of the style that Leone displayed in the rest of his movies.

That movie was made in the region of Cantabria (northern Spain) around 60 km from where I was born. I can recognize in the movie the areas of Laredo (including the beach) and also SantoƱa in the background.

Definitely worth seeing for the locations and some of the effects were pretty cool, but otherwise just an average movie.  Figure it this way, if Leone hadn't directed it, how many people would have seen it over 40 years later? O0

These links are in Spanish, but they contain some interesting pictures of Laredo when the Colossus of Rodes was being filmed. The pictures show the Colossus legs, its upper body, etc. The last link also shows scenes of the making of El Cid, 55 days in Peking, and Lawrence of Arabia (yup, those scenes were filmed in Spain).

Not many people have seen it this way either, I'm afraid. Count in us 10 from the board, if you like. :D
