Got mine yesterday! ;D

I watched the bonus features last night. However, I have a prior commitment this evening, so it'll be tomorrow before I can enjoy the film.

But at least it's here!

Frank: So YOU'RE the one who makes appointments.
Harmonica: And you're the one who doesn't KEEP them.

Don't you just love seeing great moments like this on DVD finally? :

I am stretching out the joys of watching this film.  I watch a scene or two and then go back and watch the scene again with the commentary on.

Last night I watched through Jill's stop at the laundry in Monument Valley.

I gotta admit I watched the opening an extra time, and Frank gunning down Timmy three times!

I was dissapointed that they didn't have an extended version. I have a German copy sitting somewhere and it's got all these 10 second clips that were cut from the 165 minute version that just add SO much to the quality of the film. Just in the beginning you have extra shots of the water hitting Woody Strode's hat, some extra seconds of the train at the beginning before revealing Bronson behind it, and later on extra shots of Morton on the train.

The quality of the DVD is top notch. For features and quality I give it 10/10.

This is an amazing DVD, ain't it?  It really does justify to how beautifully these widescreen shots are composed.  My God, when the train pulls away to reveal Bronson and the 3 gumnen turn to face him - their dusters flapping and them laid out in a triangle with Bronson in the distance?  Breathtaking.

I think they did a great job on the sound mix too.  Had it cranked up loud on the 5.1 version - when Timmy runs through through the door and Morricone hammers those 3 guitar chords of Frank''s theme, you'd think the heavens are collapsing.  Wow  :o

Well, I got my copy Friday the 21st as a birthday present ... the hardest part was waiting three more days! That night I couldn't stand it, so I stayed up late to watch the opening at the train station -- one of cinema's greatest opening sequences ever.  Of course then I had to stay up a little longer so I could see Frank pop Timmy!  :-)  The next day I watched a few of the documentaries and then the movie itself.  Five glorious hours ... since then I've played everything but the commentaries, so I need to set more time aside.

I have waited so long for this DVD, and it is absolutely fantastic.  I'm a photographer, so I'm just savoring the gorgeous colors, Leone's awesome compositions -- now that I can see them in their true form again -- and all the incredible details of the close-ups.  (Morricone's music sounds better than ever, too.)  It is truly the greatest Western ever made, and Paramount has done a spectacular job.

I finally had to register here, so I could share my excitement with those who can appreciate it!

Well El, last night I watched two of the documentaries, the trailer, the stills show, the Railroad: Revolutionizing the West feature, and the train shootout just for fun.  So far I'm blown away.  As I've said I don't know when I'll be able to watch it the whole way through, but I'm patient.
