Non-disclosure agreement, eh?

That?s a shame it?s over two issues. I was hoping it would all be included in one issue. Do you discuss the 8 mins of deleted scenes, or are you sworn to secrecy about that too?

No, non of that. I really do not remember. Since then I did the video-essay for RED RIVER, the IMPRINT Cross-box, the IMPRINT Garcia & Passion & Poetry box incl. audio-commentaries, now I'm into a video-essay for ONE-EYED JACKS, next comes CONVOY (I hope)... a lot of stuff  :D.

I offered an update regarding the deleted scenes, but I think the layout is already done.
I just learned about the footage few weeks ago.
It's two sequences:
the 5 min. rough cut (wih live sound!) of the opening of film (behind enemy lines), only
a few seconds made it into the final cut.
And a scene (no sound, I tried to score it a little bit) depicting the platoon hinding
behind bushes from a Russian platoon (after they crossed the street with the truck traffic).
plus a few long takes of the girl and Kern in the bath tub barrel...

I put a few images on FB. Anybody interested in Peckinpah may friend me on Facebook,
(Unfortunaly) I don't have the time to post too many details all the time in forums...

Yes please.

And then those four cuts of PG&BTK, please!

I watched the new Imprint disc (not 4K since I don?t have a player), and the colors were really good. It is still that grimy color, but the blue stripes on Coburn?s shirt in the hospital are not the green I recall from the earlier release. I have not, however, checked my old blu ray to compare them though, so I could be misremembering.

I did appreciate watching Mike?s ?grindhouse print?, but the low quality was distracting and the colors seemed somewhat too vivid relative to the new blu-ray print. Maybe I?m just used to the grimy look, but it works?especially when things are their correct colors at least.

The most interesting point in the interviews with Tony Lawson and Mike Ellis was how much credit they gave to Peckinpah for the editing in telling them what he wanted and guiding them in the process with copious notes and even sleeping in a caravan next to where they were editing.

Did I ever mention that this is one helluva film?

Maybe it did come up once or twice before.

Thanks for your comments, Novecento. Sounds like this is a good edition to get.

The deleted scene was nice to see from the beginning of the film too. But it?s good it was shortened, That opening scene after the awesome intro credits is one of the best cut moments of the entire thing. Lawson and Ellis both said that they had crazy amounts of footage to work with. Why they kept that scene concerning the man?s private parts at the end of the encounter with the Russian women is beyond me however.

Lawson said he was going to work with Peckinpah on his next feature (I?m assuming Convoy) but dropped out early on because Peckinpah was becoming too hard to deal with due to substance abuse.

It seems to be the definitive release. But it is pricey, and if you just want the movie then it looks like studio canal is releasing the same print in different regions for a lot less but without Mike?s third disc.

I paid 99.95 AUD plus 45 AUD for shipping to east coast US. Ouch.
