Watched this tonight finally, great performances by Huston, Stanwyck, and Roland, heavy on the family drama, great noir-ish cinematography though. nice criterion edition, worth a rent.

re watched this again tonight, a bit of an anti Western & heavy on family drama 6.5/10

I liked what I saw hence the 6.5/10 even now though I couldn't tell you what it was about, I just don't recall liking it enough to buy it so I would recommend you either see if it's on Youtube or get a used DVD.

I saw a couple of Youtube clips. Gonna go back and look at some more. Those Criterion releases ain't cheap, lol..

I'll buy them used (criterion) haven't gotten burned with any of them yet, the last two were Le Samourai, and The Killing Of a Chinese Bookie both had no problems.

Definitely. A much too unknown intense western drama with atmospheric and noirish b/w photography. 8/10
