Haley Joel kinda sucks too. He's never been that good a child actor. I bet he got all those roles in the late 90's early 2000's because he put out for pedo execs.
I hear he sucked Spielberg's dick.

trust a man who wears both a belt and suspenders?

« #15961 : April 12, 2016, 04:28:45 PM »

Just say you trust me.

I'll say I love you baby, but trust is a whole different matter ...

Lo straniero / The Stranger (1967) - 6/10. An indifferent adaptation of Camus's famous novel. But it's a Visconti with Rotunno photography, so it is not without interest. And it can be streamed, in Italian with English subs, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3yXp4LDVhU

Yes, it is an unofficial remake of FoD.

The Clouded Yellow (1950) Director: Ralph Thomas, starred Jean Simmons, Trevor Howard, Sonia Dresdel, Barry Jones, and Kenneth More. A good British Noir that features a chase over the moors to Lancaster and it's waterfront.  7/10

1941 (1979) - 7/10
As Kubrick said, it's "great, but not funny".

The Jungle Book (2016) - 8.5/10
Best movie of the year so far, and some of the best CGI I've ever seen. Favreau directed a future classic - a kids and family movie not catered to pussies. Excellent voice acting especially from Bill Murray and Idris Elba. The kid is pretty fucking great too to act the whole entire movie with no other humans.

Who sings "The Bare Necessities"? It would be hard to beat Phil Harris's version.

Bill Murray duet with the kid. It doesn't top Harris'. But, the two musical numbers in the movie don't exactly take over their respective scenes. they're more subtle. Christopher Walken does the other song, which is a bit more obvious.

The Come On (1956) Director: Russell Birdwell with stars Stars: Anne Baxter, Sterling Hayden, John Hoyt, Jessi White. Con woman Rita (Baxter) finds love with fisherman Hayden, to the detriment of her partner Kendrick (Hoyt). Baxter is pretty hot 6.5-7/10

À nos amours (1983) 7/10. Suzanne (Sandrine Bonnaire) discovers sex at 15 and starts playing musical beds. This, predictably, causes problems at home. Are Daddy issues at the root of her compulsion? (Daddy is played by the film's charismatic director, Maurice Pialat). We never find out. As an example of tranche de vie the film succeeds; however, it all becomes rather repetitive. Pialat sure knows how to cut a picture, though.
I gave the Gaumont Blu another spin last night--fantastic transfer, except for the color grading. No way did this film look like it was shot in 2016 back in 1983. The usual suspects, orange and teal, are annoyingly apparent. Skin tones look great, though.

Jack Reacher (2012) - 7/10

Cruise's performance makes it good. The story's not bad either but hardly anything new. Entertaining.
