And Shockproof is the only other one I've seen that will be included in the set, which is basically an inferior NAKED KISS with a terrible ending. I doubt you'll care for it.

Doug Sirk blows it again, huh? Too bad, I was sorta looking forward to that one. Oh well, maybe The Crimson Kimono or Underworld U.S.A. are of interest.

Cry Danger (1951) - 8/10. Dick Powell plays a guy serving a life sentence for a crime he didn't commit when, after five years, an alibi witness suddenly steps forward to spring him. Only the witness is a phony. No matter, with Powell back on the bricks, it's only a matter of time before things get sorted out. Powell once again employs that charming curb-side manner he first used in Murder, My Sweet, honed in Cornered, and perfected in Pitfall. This time, the snappy patter is even deadlier than all the flying lead! Personally, I can't get enough of this sort of thing. Next stop, Johnny O'Clock.

I pugni in tasca/Fists in the Pocket (1965) - 3/10. Beautiful b&w photography and a solid Morricone score can't save this silly film about a family of nut jobs who are getting on each other's nerves until one of the members finally decides to start bumping the others off. I just signed up with this service. Most films cost 5 bucks, but there are some that are free, including Agnes Varda's first feature and Polanski's Knife in the Water. Worth checking out.

Day of Anger - 6/10 - My film sabbatical is finally over! Sadly it was ended for a fairly bleh Tonino Valerii Spaghetti. Unusually talky for a Spaghetti, unfortunately with the usual stilted dialogue and lousy dubbing one would expect. Pretty typical and predictable "old gun tutors wimpy apprentice" plot plus a revenge story of sorts, with lots of fortune cookie wisdom posing as tough talk. Have to say I HATED the scene where Gemma gunned down LVC's gang while repeating his advice - come on! I have to admit I don't much like Gemma either, he's too much of a wimp to be an interesting protagonist. A few cool shootouts (especially the muzzle-loader duel), good direction, and LVC is a badass as usual but overall a bit too routine for me. The score is kind of meh, it's good in spots but overall sounds too much like the theme song to some '60s detective show. Looks like they reused a lot of the FAFDM locations - not a complaint, just an observation. Nice to see an extended Al Muloch cameo too, AND an unusually large Stefanelli part.

Nice to see an extended Al Muloch cameo too, AND an unusually large Stefanelli part.

Likewise, the late appearance of Aldo Sambrell in I crudeli added a lot of interest to an otherwise dull flick. He didn't hang around long, though, so then it was back to dullsville.

Odd 80s urban gangs flick / Waiting for Godot amalgam. Depressing little absurdist piece, with a pinch of nostalgia to it.
