Yojimbo - 8/10 - Kurosawa number three and I'm still not terribly impressed. I feel like a pedantic jerk saying this, considering I've given all of his films a fairly high eight, but when am I going to find the gentleman's masterpiece? This film is probably better than the others due to the fairly slim, well-constructed narrative, which lacks the self-indulgent fat of the other films I've seen (Ran and Seven Samurai). Certainly it's far superior to FOD (only the music wins there). So another very good movie I'd hesitate to call a truly great one, or to put high on my list. I suppose this is praising with faint damn or some such but it's how I feel.

The Informant! - 8/10 - Starts out a bit unfocused and obnoxiously chirpy (particularly the silly muzak score)

Which is why I left after ten minutes.
Luckily I didn't pay for it.
My money went to the serviceable sci-fi film with Bruce Willis instead.

Exit to Eden (1994) - 4/10

The curse of the long lost VHS cassette from behind the couch strikes again.

Did you miss the part where it got much better as it went along?

Triple Agent (2003) - I never saw a Rohmer's movie I can call a masterpiece but I was never bored either. Any of his movies gets 7\10 from me and this is no exception.

Day of the Dead (1985) - Slow paced in the first part, with crap dialogues galore, it redeems itself in the second with some original twist on the usual Romero's plot. 6\10

I like his films adapted from literary sources: L'anglaise et le duc, Die Marquise von O, Perceval le Gallois.

I prefer (just a little bit more) those based on his own stories. Some of his early movies are good studies on male behaviour toward the p..., ehm... females, though I gathered at the time that I was one of the few to view them as such.

Witness (1985) - 7.35/10

Good, a bit minimalistic in plot (as often with Peter Weir's movies), but sentimental and detailed.

Been awhile since I've seen that one, but I remember the grain mill scene vividly.

Yeah I got that.
Still not interested.
I don't even like that Damon character.
