Pretty sure he's still alive, at least according to IMDB. He did an interview about Leone a few years back and talked about GBU.

Wow - interesting!  I wish I had known about the interview!  I would have made it a point to see it, had I known.   Thanks for letting me know about it - appreciate it!  Had you not said something about it, I wouldn't have known he even did one - thanks!   O0

Note:   I just checked on YouTube and couldn't find the interview with him on there, so the search goes on.....

Someone posted about it on this board a few months back. I don't recall if he had a link or not...

EDIT: Looked via the search engine and the closest I came was a second-hand reference by Titoli in the Paul Frees thread:

Thanks for posting that, Groggy!   I was shocked to read that Aldo didn't speak a lick of English and so, didn't understand a word Eastwood said - very interesting!   By watching his lips, it looks like he IS speaking English, but then again, it may be a camera adjustment or some kind of effect that makes it appear that he's speaking English, eh?

Thanks again for posting the link to that thread - appreciate it!   O0

Raimund Harmstorf hanged himself after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, if I remember correctly.

He wasn't in BBC but was in a couple of SWs.

He's well enough to still be cheating his remaining colleagues out of money, yes.
Out of all the spaghetti western actors/directors I've spoken to... it was only Parolini who had nothing bad to say about him.
Probably because I don't recall him ever working with Aldo before.

LOL, is that really true? How exactly is he stealing money from them?

I don't see how Aldo could have been stealing money from his colleagues, if that IS who you're referring to.    Kinda hard to believe that he'd even do something like that, if it's possible to do that in the first place.

Well it would be nice to have FC clarify this claim. Given how small his roles are in most of his films it would surprise me.

Yes, I totally agree.   I'm actually surprised that most of his roles ARE small, considering I think he's wonderful actor - played the role of the drunk captain very well.  The scene where he's brought back to the fort, wounded, then soon after dies, was a heart-breaking scene, to me.   He plays the role so well that he portrays the type of guy you can quickly warm up to and take a liking to very quickly, you know?    I was saddened to see him die in the war in the movie -  :'(  he was a likeable guy.

FC is talking about Aldo Sambrell, not Aldo Giuffre.

Ok - my apologies.   I obviously got confused there, considering we're talking about two actors with the same first name here - lol.  Sorry.   :-\   ;)
