My new favorite movie. I love the story, just when you think you have the plot, Hill throws in a wrench. So many twists. But it's all for one con. I especially favor the card game, from the moment Newman bursts in and says, "Sorry I'm late guys I was takin a crap" to when he says "that's 15 grand you owe me, pal".

I'm sure everyone will agree this is a great movie.

Only ever caught bits and pieces I'm embarassed to say but from what I have seen it does indeed look good.

I'm a fan of "The Entertainer". Good theme song for this flick.

Its good, and it doesn't have a "raindrops keep falling on my head" moment.

I beg to differ. It has the card tricks by Paul Newman. Lacking music though.

No, but as for Newman doing tricks... It has one of those.

The Sting - I've finally seen this in english so I could appreciate the fact that Robert Shaw is superb and should have been given an Oscar. Newman is OK (especially in the card play scene) and Redford, as usual, can't act at all but is not as intruding as, say a Cruise or a Penn.  Still this is a movie I can't but think about if not as a movie without actors in the same way (pardon me the highfalutin' quotation) Ravel saying that his Bolero was a piece of music without music. The fact is that the clever plot's the most important element  (with the music) and all of the actors are disposable stuff.  This is the limit of a perfect mechanism: it is like watching the interior of a watch and being explained how it works. The fact I have been watching it since his theatrical release proves though that the entertainment value of the movie is one of those rarely equalled. 10\10
