This is the only Leone movie I haven't seen, is it really that good?

I love all of his other films. I've read quite a few reviews saying its better than both GBU and Once Upon...America, but I have a hard time believing that.
What should I expect of the film. And which version of it should I get?

My advise is: Just watch it! I don't think you can go awfully wrong with any of the versions available on DVD.

It's of course a matter of taste.
For me, yes OuTW is better. GBU is already a great, great masterpiece, but OuTW really tops it. In fact it's one of the 5 best films I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot.
And you will find many people who see it that way. But you will also find more people who dislike OuTW (mostly because of it's slowness) than people who dislike GBU.

Yes, it is that good. But you may appreciate it more after 2nd or 3rd viewing, lots to take in at one setting, like with Once/America. I've made a "pilgrimmage" to the Monument Valley set remnants. Now go watch (and listen to) the film.
