The Madman Indio

Part of Leone's genius is his casting of villains, he created roles for some of the great bad guys of moviedom:  Ramon, El Indio, AngelEyes, Frank, Max - these are all magnificent characters, they have a lot more dimension to them than your typical villain.

IMO that's a major reason that Fistful of Dynamite falls short of his other work - where's the larger than life bad guy?  He's trying to make "The System" the villain, but it's not as menacing as an Indio stoned out of his mind.

Damm right, my friend, now if only he had cast ROBERT MITCHUM (as Sean Sean) and  TELLY SAVALAS as JUAN! Sparks might have flown!
