Yea we'll do it again, we'll have the route down better,  and we have to allow more time for McSorelys, it seemed to rushed at the end because we had to get to Lincoln Center for the film.

Thanks pippo O0

I've been trying to find some architectural plans but without much success. I have however found a lot of graphical images and pdf files. Not had chance to read the pdfs yet but I was thinking of getting an overhead image form google or bing, cutting out the roof and inserting plans of the various rooms. Should be fairly easy and the skylights should enable it to be fairly accurate.

e.g.

RE: the picture that cj posted, which he entitled  "the room beyond the locker room."  was taken through the window of the (locked) door that separates the room at the top of the Stairs -- ie. the room with the and "Lockers" and offices -- and the room marked the  "Long Hall." As the diagram here shows, at the top of the stairs is a room; on the right side of the room is the locker area and some offices. Directly across from the stairs is a door that leads to the Long Hall; the photo was taken through the window of that door.

So through the window in that door, we can see that area you call the "Long Hall." Looked to me like another Waiting Room, identical to the one downstairs.

(In the movie, we see the boys walk through that very door, before going through the offices to the lockers. Those offices are still functioning NJ Transit offices).

Next time we do the tour, perhaps we should try to contact the station manager to try to get special access to that upstairs terminal, ie. "The Long Hall"  ;)

btw, the area around the station is a pretty interesting one: directly across from the station is a very nice grassy area; there are great views of Manhattan, and on the surrounding streets, there are some really cool old signs There's an old cobblestone street with trolley lines, and some nice bars. It's not a bad place to spend a little time (pre-gaming for McSorley's ;)

(UPDATE:  In this post, I initially mistakenly wrote that the picture cj posted (with the caption "the room beyond the locker room") was taken through the window of the door separating the "Waiting Room" and the "Long Hall." That was incorrect; the door actually separates the room at the top of the stairs (with the offices and lockers) with the Long Hall. I have now updated this post to reflect the correct information; sorry to anyone that was confused by my initial post. The post is now correct  :) )

you are the Professor  ;)

new version is uploading as I type.

I had to use windows movie maker for it because I can use a slow zoom feature, I used to be able to use Ulead Video Studio but some update seemed to screw up that slow zoom feature (I still used it for the fly (scroll) on the opening and closing titles) Ulead seems to make higher quality Youtubes. I also have Adobe Premier Elements but it doesn't seem to have the zoom. I also have the complete Adobe Premier but it seems to be disabled by an update also.  :-[

None of you guys asked about Sergio during your "visiting" at McSorley's ?

I did, and it went like this...

We visited McSorley's in the morning of a day of november 2010, coming from Hoboken Rail Station (my previous photos), so, after observing all the stuff hanged on the walls, I started talking to the man in white shirt behind the counter, visible in the pictures below, and I said: "Excuse me sir, how long have you been workin' here ?"

and he said: "me ?  oh... more than thirty years"

and I: "have you ever heard of Mr Leone, the movie director ?"

and he: "Yeah... Sergio... of course... "

and I: "really ?  what do you remember about him ? "

and he: "Sergio went crazy for one of our sandwiches... and he used to say one day or another I will shoot a movie inside here... and he did"

and I: "he did... what a great movie OUATIA"

and he:"great movie... something to drink ?"

and I: "yes sir, please give us a couple of beers... "

and we went almost drunk... terrific morning that day of november in NYC

My suggestion ?   TRY YOURSELF !!!

sorry for the low quality of the images... that's the clue we were almost (maybe totally) drunk, but very very happy

I didn't take the image though,  d&d did,  here is the location from where he took it.

Once: I am sorry I misspoke in my previous message, and for confusing you; and I thank cigar joe for his correction/elucidation in the diagram above:

I initially said that the photo was taken "through the window of the door separating the Waiting Room and the Long Hall." That is incorrect. What i should have said is that "the photo was taken through the window of the door separating the room on top of the stairs (ie. the room with the lockers and offices), and the Long Hall."
(and I have now edited my previous post accordingly, to state the correct location).

cj's markings on the map above is correct: the photo was indeed taken through the window of the door that separates the room marked "Stairs/Lockers" and the room marked "Long Hall."
