OUATIA locations

From Frayling's book: The scene where Joe (Burt Young) is shot in the eye was filmed at "Trois Rivieres" near Quebec, as was the car driving off the pier 

This was Carlo Simi's (production designer) favourite location for OUATIA - " St. Lawrence river seems like the ocean and where the road is lined with the carcasses of rotting boats".

Also from book: The feather factory was a real working feather factory near 8th street (Brooklyn).

Jazz festival June 26th - July 5th
Comedy festival (Just For Laughs) also July - I'd be up for 2017

Chris that's fantastic - the Rue Normand building is exactly where Jimmy runs from the phone booth (on street corner) matched it with my book photo - the restaurant is just down from that building.

Chris see if you can come up with some photos for the  Trois Rivieres Boat Marina on Saint Quentin Island - I'm pretty certain this is the Montreal location where the car goes off the pier/jetty & guys end up in the river - I've seen a photo of Woods, Forsythe & Hayden in the water filming this scene and it's the same location as the Marina - the whole area has been cleaned up - no rotting old boats (that I can see) and the Jetty probably looks different now

Chris is you scroll down about half way you'll see a section on old tug boat wrecks that were scattered around the Louisville area near Trois  Rivieras - unfortunately it looks like the boats were scrapped in 1996 but there is info on the location and a dredging/marine construction company

As I recall, in STDWD, Frayling says that there was initially supposed to be a scene (it is in the long script, which has been floating around here and on A1's site) of Noodles walking around in Chinatown on the last night of Prohibition (I think he is supposed to be walking to the opium den, after seeing his friends killed). You see all these drunken partiers in the street. (I think this may have come right after the last scene in 1968, with the lights of the 1930's car with the kids partying.) Noodles was walking through the streets of Chinatown as everyone is celebrating the last night of Prohibition. Ever-ambitious, Leone wanted to film this scene in Hong Kong. I don't know if the scene was ever filmed (my guess is that it was, as this scene is in the longer script we've seen), but I am pretty certain nothing was filmed in Hong Kong. Again, everything I write here is what I recall reading in STDWD.
