Actually, if you look at his IMDb filmography here, there is a huge gap between Federales y Unitarios (1927) and what it lists as his 2nd film - Murió hace quince años (1954). From then on there's a fairly steady stream of films up til his last in 1968, when he presumably retired from acting. My guess is the Federales film is on there as a mistake - quite common on IMDb for lesser known actors - and the film probably featured another actor with the same name. So perhaps he's not so ancient after all. I'd say he looks about 40 in FoD - so maybe in his 80s now.
